이 글은 시민사회의 제자윤리를 모색하기 위하여 바울의 제자도에 주목한다. 공감과 환대를 포괄하는 사회적 영성에 대한 관심이 커지는 맥락에서, 이 글은 사회적 영성에 관한 산발적 논의들을 기독교윤리학에 통합하여 시민사회에서의 제자됨의 윤리를 추구한다. 특별히, 이 글은 한국기독교를 주도해온 ‘번영의 복음’과 ‘잘되는 영성’에 나타난 신앙의 사사화를 극복하기 위하여, 사회적 영성을 사사화된 영성의 대안으로, 그리고 시민사회의 제자윤리로 읽어낸다. 공감, 환대, 책임, 소통은 시민사회에서 제자공동체로서의 교회가 함양하고 구현해야 할 제자 윤리이다. 바울이 제자도의 지평을 공동체적 맥락으로 확장시켰다는 점에서, 시민사회의 제자윤리에 대한 교회적 관심을 촉구하는 것으로 읽을 수 있다. 한국기독교는 바울의 공동체적 제자도에 나타난 사회적 영성에 관심함으로써 신앙의 사사화를 극복하고 시민사회의 제자윤리를 구현해야 한다.

In the context of growing interest in social spirituality, such as concern on empathy and hospitality, this article pursues the ethics of disciple in civil society by focusing on Paul’s Christian ethics. This article reinterprets Pauline discipleship from the perspective of virtue ethics while riding on the ‘Paul Renaissance’, which is actively developing centering on the humanities and the New Testament studies. For Paul, discipleship is a community-based ethics which involves the social spirituality of public responsibility, communication, empathy, and hospitality. Korean Christianity should overcome the privatization of faith and realize the discipleship of civil society by paying attention to the social spirituality shown in Paul.
