문화와 예술은 불가분의 관계이다. 하지만 문화는 삶의 질적 가치를 향유하고 즐기는 것이라면, 예술은 고뇌가 수반된 창작활동으로 창조적, 선구자적 자질로 문화를 이끌어 가는 중심축이라 할 수 있다. 예를 들어 공연을 진행할 때, 공연하는 사람은 창작을 하는 예술인이고, 즐기며 향유하는 사람은 문화인인 것이다. 이렇듯 문화와 예술은 떨어질 수 없는 관계이며, 예술인들이 본인의 영역에서 창작활동을 이어가면서 지역의 문화가 발전하는 데 작은 밑거름이 되고 있다. 사회는 이런 현실을 이해하면서 문화와 예술이 다름을 인정하고 함께 나아가는 길을 모색하는 게 앞으로의 가장 큰 과제이다.
