현대 꽃꽂이는 일본의 이께바나와 관계를 가지면서 발전해 왔다. 그러나 그 성립발전에 대해서는 밝혀지지 않은 것이 많다. 그래서 본고는 주로 꽃꽂이에 관한 문헌자료 등을 조사, 분석함으로서, 현대 꽃꽂이가 언제부터 어떤 활동이 진행되었는가를 고찰하고 그 양상을 밝혀내는 데 목적을 두었다. 현대 꽃꽂이의 시작은, 1956년부터1960년에 걸쳐서 교과서 발간과 개인전, 여원사 주최의 강습회, 지상강습, 꽃꽂이회 창립과 회원전 등과 함께 시작되었다고 생각한다. 또한 활동에 대해서는 첫째, 전통적인 양식과 현대적인 양식을 혼합해서 자유롭게 표현하는 것. 둘째, 섬세함과 장식중심의 표현, 식물에 대한 지식, 조형적인 디자인 기법의 도입으로 자유롭고 창의적인 형태로 발전해왔던 것. 셋째, 서양의 플라워디자인과 유러피안 디자인을 적극적으로 받아들인 것. 넷째, 최근에는 취미의 다양화에 따라 꽃꽂이의 한편에서는, 학술적인 연구가 성행되어 가고 있다고 말할 수 있다.

Modern flower arrangements have been developed by having a relationship with Japanese flower arrangements. But, It’s not known about there development. Therefore, the purpose of this manuscript was to investigate and analyze the literature on flower arrangements to examine and identify the aspects of modern flower arrangements. As a result, it was revealed that the beginning of modern flower arrangement began from 1956 to 1960, when textbooks were published and individual exhibitions, lectures hosted by Yeoone Temple, ground lessons, and the foundation of flower arrangement associations and flower gardens. Also, about activities first, freely expressing traditional and modern styles. Second, it has developed into a free and creative form by introducing delicate and decorative expressions, knowledge of plants, and formative design techniques. Third, it actively accepted Western flower design and European design. Fourth, recently, it can be said that academic research has been prevalent on one side of flower arrangement due to the diversification of hobbies.
