Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Hwangryunhaedok-tang pharmacopuncutre on frequent awakening in a 46-year-old female patient who has insomnia.
Methods : Patient was treated with Hwangryunhaedok-tang pharmacopuncture on eleven acupoints including GV20, right BL66, ST44, SI5, ST41 and both GB20, GB21 BL15. Patient's quality of sleep was assessed by Korean version of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI-K), Korean Sleep Scale (KSS), and Sleep Diary. The treatment was executed once per day between July 6-10, 2017.
Results : After five treatment sessions, PSQI-K score changed from 12 to 17, mean value of KSS changed from 20 to 29 and mean value of sleep efficiency changed from 28 to 40.
Conclusions : The result suggest that Hwangryunhaedok-tang pharmacopuncture can be a valuable option to relieve insomnia.
