연구목적: 이 연구는 도쿄올림픽에서 보여준 야구와 여자배구의 4위에 대한 인식적 함의를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 결과중심의 ‘금메달 지상주의’에서 벗어나, 과정중심의 ‘스토리텔링’에 더 주목하게 된 일련의 과정을 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 YouYube에서 ‘도쿄올림픽 야구’와 ‘도쿄올림픽 배구’를 키워드로 설정하였으며, 2021년 7월 23일부터 2021년 9월 30일까지의 관련 게시글 및 댓글을 분석하였다. 분석방법인 에스노 그라피(Internet Ethnography)를 적용하였다. 결론: 이와 같이 수행된 연구의 결과를 통해 다음과 같은 결론에 도달하였다. 첫째, 프로야구에서 ‘호텔 술판’이라는 방역법 위반으로 논란을 불러일으켰다. 이후 도쿄올림픽에서 불성실한 태도 논란으로 대중들의 비난 여론을 쏟아 내었다. 둘째, 여자프로배구에서 쌍둥이 자매의 학교폭력으로 논란을 불러일으켰다. 하지만 노장의 투혼과 부상에도 몸을 내던지는 경기에 ‘원팀’이라는 칭호를 받기에 충분하였다. 셋째, 야구와 여자배구 두 종목 모두 4위에 머물렀지만, 대중들은 최선을 다한 배구대표팀에게 위로가 아닌 환호를 보내고 있었다.

Pupose: In this study tried to examine the cognitive implications of 4th place in baseball and women's volleyball at the Tokyo Olympics. To this end, we wanted to explore a series of processes that focused more on process-oriented ‘storytelling’, away from the result-oriented ‘gold medal supremacy’. Methods: In order to do so, this study searched for the name ‘Tokyo Olympic Baseball’, ‘Tokyo Olympic Volleyball’s in the YouTube and analyzed related posts and comments from 23 July 2021 to 30 September 2021. The analysis employed the Internet Ethnography method in order to facilitate the analysis of discussions and opinions from many people in this online space. Conclusion: The findings are as follows. First, it caused controversy in professional baseball for violating the quarantine law called “hotel drink”. Since then, he has been criticized by the public for the controversy over his unfaithful attitude at the Tokyo Olympics. Second, the twin sisters' school violence in women's professional volleyball caused controversy. However, it was enough to receive the title of 'one team' in the match where the veteran player threw himself away despite the fighting spirit and injuries. Third, both baseball and women's volleyball were ranked 4th, but the public was cheering rather than consoling the volleyball team that did their best.
