ESP 분야에 속한 무역영어 관련 교수법 및 수업모형에 대한 연구가 대학교육 수준에서 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 본 연구는 무역영어 서신쓰기 수업에서 내용중심 교수(CBI)를 기반으로 쓰기 과정중심의 영작문 수업모형을 제안하였다. 무역영어 교재에서 공통적으로 다루어지는 주요 무역절차 관련 서신쓰기를 학습목표로 삼아 각 단계별 수업절차에 따라 필요한 교수 및 학습활동을 제시했다. 무역영어 서신쓰기 수업에서 CBI는 무역관련 전문용어 설명, 배경지식 전달 및 확인, 무역서신 장르분석(genre analysis)면에서 효과적일 수 있다. 또한, 과정중심 쓰기교수에서는 쓰기 전 단계에서 move 분석, 쓰기 중, 후 단계에서 교수자와 동료의 수정활동이 반복적으로 이루어지고, 그룹 활동으로 무역서신 쓰기를 완성한다는 점이 특징적이다. 향후 CBI 기반 ESP 쓰기 수업모형에 대한 이론적 논의와 질적 연구가 활발히 이루어지기를 기대한다.

Few studies on trade English related teaching methods and class models in the ESP field have been conducted at the level of tertiary education. Therefore, this study proposed a class model for trade English email writing based on the Content-based Instruction and centered on the process-oriented writing as well. With the class objectives of writing trade email related to major trade procedures covered in trade English textbooks, class activities were suggested each step. In the trade e-mail writing class, CBI seems to be effective in explaining trade-related terminology, conveying and checking students’ background knowledge, and analyzing the genre of trade email. In addition, from the aspect of process-oriented writing, it is characteristic that the move analysis in the prewriting stage, the recursive revisions or feedbacks of the teacher and peers in the while and post writing stage, and group activities done for the final draft. It is expected that theoretical discussions and qualitative research on the effects of the CBI-based ESP writing class model will be actively conducted.
