COVID-19 pandemic has caused huge losses and profound impact on China’s hotel industry. The hotel industry urgently needs to find crisis management means to deal with the epidemic situation, and strive to achieve the dual goals of not only helping to fight against the epidemic and relief, but also stable survival. The results showed that : 1. the reason why crises produce huge losses is that they have the characteristics of suddenness, uncertainty, and lethality. 2. Hotels should carry out the construction of smart hotels in a timely manner, and rely on “Internet +” to carry out brand-new renovation and upgrading of hotels. 3. Responding to the outbreak of a crisis is the most important part of crisis management. 4. After the crisis is over, the tourism industry will usher in a new round of recovery, and there will even be a “counterattack” outbreak. Therefore, at this stage, the hotel industry needs to make adequate preparations in terms of human, material, and financial resources to be prepared. This study contributes to the knowledge of contingency planning for crisis management across crisis periods. It also demonstrates the processes of “PPRR” model analysis for researchers to undertake further studies in tourism crisis management. The governments and hotel industry stakeholders needs to clarify the importance of crisis management, actively pay attention to changes in the market environment, formulate emergency plans in advance, adjust strategies in time, respond quickly, and respond effectively.
