롤스의 ‘정의론’으로 촉발된 자유주의자들과 공동체주의자들간의 논쟁은 도덕적ㆍ정치철학적 영역에 많은 기여를 하였다. 도덕교과에서도 이러한 결과물들을 교과서 서술상 사회사상 영역에서의 내용요소로 다루어 왔다. 그러나 2015 교육과정개정 이후 이러한 내용 요소들이 많이 축소되었다. 이러한 축소는 현재 교과서에 소개되어 있는 정치철학적 내용요소들을 이해하는 데에 어려움을 줄 것으로 보인다. 본 연구에서는 공동체주의에 대한 서술이 앞으로의 교육과정에서는 더욱 확대되어야 하며 특히, 공동체주의자인 왈처의 정의론이 도덕교과에서 활용될 때 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있을 것이라 주장한다. 이러한 이해를 바탕으로 ‘생활과 윤리’ 교과서와 ‘윤리와 사상’ 교과서에 왈처의 정의론이 적용될 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다.

The debate between liberals and communitarians, sparked by Rawls’s ‘Theory of Justice’, contributed a lot to moral and political philosophy. In the moral subject, these results have been treated as content elements in the field of social thought in textbook descriptions. However, after the 2015 curriculum revision, these content elements have been greatly reduced. Such reduction is likely to give difficulty in understanding the political and philosophical content elements introduced in current textbooks. This study argues that the description of communitarianism should be further expanded in the future curriculum, and in particular, when Walzer’s theory of justice is used in moral subjects, it can have a positive effect. Based on this understanding, this study proposes a way to apply Walzer's theory of justice to the textbooks ‘Life and Ethics’ and ‘Ethics and Thoughts'.
