본 연구의 목적은 표현상 역설적이기는 하지만 불가능한 가능성으로서의 용서와 그에 따른 실천적 시사점을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 성서에 기록된 용서하시는 하나님과 그 용서의 표상으로서 예수가 살아낸 실천으로서의 용서를 살펴보았다. 하나님의 용서는 무조건적인 사랑으로 값없이 주어지는 선물이며 한계가 없는 완전한 용서이다. 이에 예수는 하나님의 형상으로서 그 형상에 부합되는 용서의 삶을 살아냈다. 그리고 예수를 따르던 제자들은 예수가 실천한 한계 없는 용서의 삶을 세상에 전파하고 또한 이웃들에게 실천했다. 기독교적 관점으로 볼 때 예수가 그리스도인들에게 요청하는 것은 그들 또한 하나님의 형상을 닮은 자이기에 마땅히 윤리적 책임으로서 용서의 삶을 살라는 것이다. 그러나 인간이 하나님의 무조건적인 용서의 삶을 살아내기에 분명한 한계가 있음은 자명한 사실이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그리스도인은 인간의 삶 속에서 반복되는 용서의 실패를 본보기 삼아 하나님과의 관계 속에서 질서를 회복하고, 그로부터 요청된 책임적 삶을 살아가야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the practical implication of forgiveness as an impossible possibility, a paradoxical concept. For this, this study examined the forgiveness that the Jesus practiced as a symbol of forgiveness, and the God’s forgiveness which is recorded in the bible. God’s forgiveness is a priceless gift of unconditional love, and it is a complete forgiveness that is unlimited. Jesus, as a form of God lived the life of forgiveness. And the disciples of Jesus spread the unlimited forgiving life that Jesus lived and practiced it to their neighbors. From the Christian point of view, Jesus asking Christians to follow him is to live the life of forgiveness based on ethical responsibility as they also have the form of God. However, it is very clear that man is limited to live the unconditionally forgiving life like God. But, Christians must take examples from the failure of forgiving that repeats in their lives, recover the order within the relation with God, and live the responsible life.
