본 연구는 대학생의 완벽주의적 자기제시와 우울감의 관계에서 정서표현 양가성의 하위요인인 자기방어적 양가성과 관계관여적 양가성의 매개효과를 각각 확인하여 완벽주의적 자기제시의 특성을 나타내는 대학생들이 우울감을 느끼게 되는 과정에서 정서표현 양가성의 매개효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 및 경기도에 소재한 4년제 대학교에 재학 중인 남여 대학생 314명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 완벽주의적 자기제시와 우울감은 유의미한 정적 상관이 있었으며 완벽주의적 자기제시와 정서표현 양가성 간에도 정적 상관이 확인되었다. 또한 정서표현 양가성과 정서표현 양가성의 하위요인들도 우울감과 정적 상관이 있었다. 둘째, 완벽주의적 자기제시와 우울감의 관계에서 정서표현 양가성은 유의미하게 우울감을 예측하였으며 정서표현 양가성은 두 변인 사이에서 완전매개 효과를 나타내는 것으로 확인되었다. 정서표현 양가성의 하위요인 별 매개효과에 대해 검증한 결과 자기방어적 양가성과 관계관여적 양가성은 유의미하게 우울감을 예측하였으며 두 변인 사이에서 완전매개효과를 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의 및 제한점, 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논의에 포함하였다.

The current study has been conducted to investigate the mediating effects of ambivalence over emotional expressiveness (AE) on the relationship between university students’ perfectionistic self-presentation and depression. The mediating effects of two sub-factors of AE, self-defensive AE and relation-involved AE, have been studied respectively to verify the influence of different motivations on university students’ depression that stems from perfectionistic self-presentation. 314 university students in Seoul and Gyeonggi province have been selected as research participants, and SPSS Version 23.0 has been utilized for statistical analysis. Both depression and AE are positively correlated with perfectionistic self-presentation. Also, AE and two-subfactors of AE, self-defensive AE and relation-involved AE, are positively correlated with depression. University students’ perfectionistic self-presentation and depression are mediated completely by the AE, self-defensive AE, and relation-involved AE, respectively. The results from the current study will be a significant foundation on intervening students with depression caused by perfectionistic self-presentation in a counseling setting. Limitations of the current study and recommendations for future research have been further discussed.
