최근 종종 언급되고 있는 뉴노멀은 지난 2008년 세계금융 위기 이후 나타난 새로운 경제 질서를 지칭하는 용어로 급부상한 용어이다. 즉, 미국의 버블경제 이후 새로운 경제적 표준(Standard)이 일상화된 미래를 일컫는다. 전(全) 세계가 코로나 19를 겪고 있는 지금, 뉴노멀이 다시 전 세계적인 화두가 되고 있다. 이제 코로나19 사태가 2008년 미국발 금융위기를 기점으로 진행 중인 세계화의 둔화를 재촉하리라는 전망이 불가피하게 많아졌다. 이렇듯 경제적인 변화에서 시작된 이 용어는 코로나 팬데믹 상황 이후 자리하게 될 새로운 일상의 정상성이나 표준을 의미하게 되었다. 하지만 뉴노멀 시대에 새로운 표준이 우리 일상의 세밀한 행동을 넘어 정치와 경제, 사회와 문화, 과학기술과 예술, 교육 등 거의 전 영역에 걸친 코페르니쿠스적 혁명적인 변화를 반영해야 할 상황을 마주하고 있다. 이렇게 필자는 뉴노멀 시대에 뉴노멀 인문학이 가야 할 길에 대해 고찰하고자 한다. 코로나19가 이후의 사회적 변화를 의미하는 포스트코로나(Postcorona) 시대에 어떻게 인문학을 대비해야 할 것인지 점검해 볼 시점이다. 따라서 필자는 인문학이 뉴노멀 시대에 새로운 변화를 해야 하는 이유, 그리고 인문학이 뉴노멀 시대에 인간과 동물의 근본적 관계설정을 다시 해야 하는 이유, 궁극적으로 필자는 코로나19 이후에 다가올 인문학의 역할과 과제 그리고 미래를 전망해 보고자 한다.

New normal, which is often mentioned recently, is a term that has emerged as a term referring to the new economic order that emerged after the 2008 global financial crisis. In other words, it refers to the future in which new economic standards become commonplace after the US bubble economy. Now that the whole world is suffering from Corona 19, New Normal is again becoming a global hot topic. Now, the outlook that the Corona 19 crisis will accelerate the slowdown of globalization, which is currently underway with the financial crisis originating from the US in 2008, has inevitably increased. This term, which originated from such economic change, has come to mean a new normality or standard of daily life that will be in place after the corona pandemic. However, in the new normal centuty, new standards foreshadow Copernician revolutionary changes in almost all areas, including politics and economy, society and culture, science and technology, art, and education, beyond the detailed actions of our daily lives. In this way, I would like to consider what the real path of New Normal Humanities in the New Normal period. It is time to examine how we should prepare for the humanities in the postcorona centuty, where Corona 19 means social change in the future. Therefore, I believe that the humanities need to make new changes in the New Normal century, and why we humans need to re-establish the fundamental relationship between humans and animals in the New Normal century and ultimately the role and challenges of humanities that will come after Corona 19 and the future.
