이 연구에서는 행동활성화체계·행동억제체계와 부모의 애정적 양육태도가 폭식 행동에 미치는 영향에서 자기위로능력이 매개하는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대학생 271명(남 125명, 여 146명)을 대상으로 폭식 행동 척도, BAS/BIS 척도, 부모양육태도 척도 자기위로능력 척도로 구성된 자기보고식 설문을 실시한 뒤 분석하였다. 그 결과 BAS는 자기위로능력의 매개 없이 폭식 행동을 직접 증가시키는 것으로 나타났고 BIS는 자기위로능력을 감소시켜 폭식 행동을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 부모의 애정적 양육태도는 자기위로능력을 증가시켜 폭식 행동을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 기질변인, 가족환경 변인, 심리적 변인, 그리고 폭식 행동의 관계에 대한 이해를 확장하여 구체적인 개입방안을 수립하기 위한 근거를 제공했다는 데 의의가 있다. 향후 연구에서는 행동활성화체계를 감소시킬 수 있는 조절변인에 대한 연구, 다른 자기조절 변인을 이용한 모형 재검증, 그리고 부모의 양육태도 외에 다른 가족환경 변인에 대한 연구 등이 필요하다.

This study investigated whether self-soothing ability (SSA) mediated the affect of behavioral activation system (BAS), behavioral inhibition system (BIS), and affectionate parenting attitude (APA) on binge eating (BE) in college students. Data was collected from 271 college students (125 males and 146 females) and analyzed. Participants were ask to complete the self-report questionnaire composed of BULIT-R, BAS/BIS scale, EMBU-Short, Self-report measure of Soothing Receptivity. Results were as follows; First, BAS enhanced BE without the mediation of SSA, but BIS increased BE in the mediation of SSA. APA decreased BE in the mediation of SSA. The significance of this study was to expand the understanding the relation between temperament factors, family factors, and BE and to provide the foundation to set the specific interventions. Future research directions are to investigate the moderating variables decreasing the BAS, to replicate the hypothesized model with other self-regulating variables and family environmental variables except APA.
