본고는 월명사의 <도솔가>의 배경설화를 살펴 이 노래가 지닌 주술 방식에 대해 논의한 결과물이다. 주지하다시피 이 작품은 하늘에 나타난 ‘두 개의 해’라는 변괴를 해결하기 위해 불린 노래이다. 배경 설화에 따르면 이 노래가 불리자 하늘의 변괴가 사라진다. 기존의 연구는 이 점에 주목하여 이 노래를 ‘주술성을 띤’의 대표적 노래로 간주하고, 주술의 연원을 <구지가> 등의 전통적 주술에서만 찾아 왔다. 주술의 매개 대상을 부른 후 명령하는 방식에 주목한 것이었다. 본고는 <도솔가>의 문면을 보다 구체적으로 살펴 이 작품의 주술성은 <구지가> 식 주술 방식 외에 <혜성가> 식 재언명(再言明) 주술에 의해서도 성취되고 있다고 보았다. 즉 이 노래는, 하늘에 추가적으로 나타난 해는 ‘재앙이 닥치려는 불길한 조짐’이 아니라, ‘미륵불 이 하생하려는 길(吉)한 조짐’이라고 재언명하며 그 미륵불을 맞이함으로써 화(禍)를 복(福)으로 바꾼 노래로 추론하였다. 이를 <혜성가>와 이 노래가 지닌 강한 상황적 친연성들을 활용하여 구체화하였다. <혜성가>에는 ‘불길한 혜성’을 보고 ‘저것은 길 쓸 별’이라고 칭하는 ‘재언명의 주술’이 보이는 데, <도솔가> 또한 ‘불길한 해’를 보고 ‘저것은 미륵좌주’라고 칭하고 있는바 이 둘은 동일한 궤의 주술일 가능성이 높은 것이다. 이외, 꿈 해몽 등에서 보이는 재언명 주술도 하나의 방증으로 삼았다. 결국 <도솔가>는 ‘이일병현(二日並現)’이라는 위기 상황을 ‘미륵이 하생할 조짐’으로 재언명하여 해의 괴변 및 신라 사회의 위기감을 잠재운 주술의 노래라고 하겠다.

This paper is the result of discussing the background story of Wolmyeongsa(月明師)'s “Dosol-ga(兜率歌)” and discussing the magical method of this song. As you may know, this work is a song sung to solve the transformation of the ‘two suns’ that appeared in the sky. According to the background story, when this song was sung, the transformation of the sky disappeared. Existing research has paid attention to this point and regarded this song as a representative song of ‘with magical properties’, and the origin of magic has been found only in traditional magic such as “Kuji-ga(龜旨歌)”. They paid attention to the method of commanding after calling the medium of magic. This paper examines the background story of “Dosol-ga” in more detail, and infers that the shamanism of this work is achieved not only by the “Kuji-ga” style magic method, but also the “Heyseong-ga(彗星歌)” style restatement magic. In other words, this song is a song reaffirmed that the additional sun in the sky is not 'an ominous sign of disaster', but 'a good sign of Maitreya Buddha's coming down'. And it turned disaster into a blessing by welcoming Maitreya Buddha(彌勒佛) through such a restatement. That was embodied by utilizing the strong circumstantial intimacy of the song and the song. In “Heyseong-ga”, we can see the new interpretation the 'bad sign of a star' as a 'star to clean the road'. “Dosol-ga” also has new interpretation the ‘Sun of Bad Symptoms’ as ‘Mireukjwaju’. Therefore these two works are likely to be the same type of magic. In addition, the magic of reinterpretation seen in dream interpretation was also taken as evidence. In conclusion, “Dosol-ga” is a magical song that calmed down the sense of crisis in Silla(新羅) society by restating 'the crisis of two suns appearing' as 'a good sign of Maitreya coming down'.
