본 글은 2명의 왕비를 배출하여 조선의 왕비가문으로 자리한 청풍김씨를 중심으로 국혼의 대상을 간택하는 조건을 파악하고, 나아가 왕비가문의 성격을 규정하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 청풍김씨는 고려 문하시중에 오른 김대유가 청성부원군에 봉해지면서 대두되었다. 두 왕비를 배출한 문의공파는 김대유의 5대손인 김중원을 파조로 한 청로상장군파에 뿌리를 두고 있다. 청풍김씨는 김식이 절의를 지켜 기묘명현으로 추숭되면서 대표적인 사림가문으로 자리했다. 김식의 4대손 김육이 등장하고 김육의 아들, 김우명의 딸이 효종대 세자빈으로 간택되면서 외척세력으로 부상하였고, 김시묵의 딸이 영조대 세손빈으로 간택되면서 왕비가문의 위격을 확립하였다. 국혼의 대상자를 간택하는데 있어서 명문가의 자제 혹은 당대 국정을 주도하는 현달한 인물의 후손 등 정치적인 요소로서 해석할 수 없는 모습들이 두 왕비의 간택 과정에서 보이며 이는 효의왕후가 간택되는 과정에서 더욱 현저하게 드러난다. 김육의 청풍김씨 가문은 선대부터 대군, 종실, 부마집안과의 혼인이 지속적으로 이루어졌다. 이러한 양상은 명성왕후를 배출한 이후 더욱 증폭되었고 부마집안과 다른 외척 세력과의 혼인이 연이어 이루어졌다. 당시 국혼을 주도하였던 효종과 영조는 불완전한 왕위 계승의 콤플렉스를 가지고 있었던 왕이다. 그들은 본인들의 영향으로 세자와 세손에서 영향을 줄 것을 염려하여 조선 초부터 이루어진 왕실과의 ‘혈연적 유대감’, ‘혈연의 누층’을 통해서 신성한 혈통으로서 세자와 세손의 지위 강화를 도모하고자 하였던 것이다. 조선의 왕비가문은 당대 권세를 획득한 세력 가문을 의미하는 것만이 아니다. 왕실과의 혼맥을 통해 신성한 혈연적 계통을 지닌 가문을 의미하는 것이다.

The purpose of this article is to identify the conditions under which two queens are produced, centering on Cheongpung Kim, who is the queen's family of Joseon, and the selection of spouse of the royal family as the subject of national marriage, and furthermore, to define the nature of the royal family. Cheongpung Kim emerged since Kim Daeyu conferred the title with Cheongseong Buwon-gun. Munuigong branch, which produced the two queens, is rooted in the Cheongnosangjanggun branch, which includes Kim Jung-won, the fifth-generation descendant of Kim Dae-yu. Cheongpung Kim became a representative family member as Kim Sik was honored as Gimyo Myeonghyeon in honor of his devotion. Kim Yuk, the fourth-generation grandson of Kim Sik, emerged as an outcast when Kim Yuk's son and Kim U-myeong's daughter were considered as Crown Princess of Hyojong, and Kim Si-muk's daughter was considered as the spouse of the oldest son of the Crown Prince of Yeongjo establishing the dignity of the royal family. In selecting the subject of national marriage, political factors such as the restraint of a prestigious family or descendants of a wise figure leading the state affairs of the time are seen in the process of the selection of the Queen Hyoui. Kim Yuk's Cheongpung Kim family continued to marry the grand prince, royal family, and royal son-in-law families from the early generation. This aspect was amplified after the birth of Queen Myeongseong, and the marriage between the roayl son-in-law family and other relatives of queen took place one after another. King Hyojong and King Yeongjo, who led the national marriage at that time, had a complex of incomplete succession to the throne. Concerned that they might influence the crown prince and his descendants, they intended to strengthen the status of the crown prince and his descendants as a sacred lineage through the "blood ties" and "the accumulation of blood ties" with the royal family from the early Joseon Dynasty. Joseon's royal family does not just mean the powerful family that won the power of the time. It means a family with a sacred bloodline through a marriage with the royal family.
