온라인 그루밍 성범죄는 전 세계적 아동·청소년들에게 심각한 현대적인 위협임이 틀림없다. 빈번히 보고되는 성착취 행위임에도 불구하고 그동한 심각성이 중요하게 인식되지 못했다. 피해자들은 적절히 보호하기 위해서는 이들에게 발생한 범죄 피해의 속성을 충분히 이해한 후에 가능하다. 또한 성적 그루밍의 의미와 요소, 과정을 잘 이해해야 법률을 효과적으로 활용할 수 있다. 최근의 온라인 그루밍 성범죄의 양상은 신체적 그루밍을 더욱 손쉽게 할 수 있는 방법으로 진화하고 있는 듯하다. 범죄자 측면에서는 이것이 범죄 수익을 창출 할 수 있는 수단으로까지 활용되고 있다. 따라서 기존의 아동 성학대 이론들은 최근의 현상과 인식을 바탕으로 이론들을 재정립할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 피해자 중심적인 사고에 입각한 정책과 교육 그리고 전문적이고 유기적인 지원 시스템의 구축 등 보다 근본적인 대책 마련을 제언하였다. 마지막으로, 아동·청소년 대상 온라인 그루밍 성착취 행위에 관한 연구들이 더 많이 진행되고, 법 집행기관의 관심이 증가하기를 기대한다.

Online sexual grooming must be a serious modem threat to children and adolescents around the world. Despite frequent sexual exploitation, seriousness has not been recognized as important. In order to properly protect the victims, it is possible after a thorough understanding of the nature of the crime. In addition, a good understanding of the meaning, element and process of sexual grooming can effectively utilize the law. Recent aspects of online sexual grooming seems to be evolving in ways that make physical grooming easier. Criminals are being used as a means to generate criminal earnings. Therefore, existing theories on child sexual abuse need to be redefined based on recent phenomena and perceptions. To this end, it proposed more fundamental measures such as policies and education based on victims and the establishment of a professional and organized support system. Finally, it is hoped that more studies on online grooming sexual exploitation of children and adolescents will be conducted, and that the interest of law enforcement agencies will increase.
