본 연구는 정부의 R&D 지원을 통해 산출된 기업특허의 피인용에 영향을 미치는 요인을 밝히고자 하였다. 특히 R&D사업 유형과 대·중소기업 여부가 피인용에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 특허청이 보유한 정부 R&D 지원 특허성과 데이터를 활용하여 분석을 실시하였다. 교차분석 결과 등록된 특허 중 인용된 비율은 응용연구가 가장 높고 개발연구가 가장 낮았고, 중소기업과 대기업 간 차이는 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 통제변수를 포함하여 로짓분석을 한 결과는 이와 차이가 있는데, 기초연구만이 개발연구에 비해 인용가능성이 높았으며, 중소기업과 대기업 간 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 국내 특허의 피인용 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 심층적인 분석을 위해 다양한 데이터를 활용한 후속연구가 필요하며, 본 연구는 향후에 이루어질 연구의 출발점이 된다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study examines whether types of R&D projects and the size of corporations affect the patent citations, with a focus on government- funded R&D projects carried out by corporations. Our analysis of the patent citations data from the KIPO reveals that patents created through basic research are more likely to be cited than for those of experimental development while there is no difference in the possibility of citations between applied research and experimental development. In addition, patent citation does not seem to be related to the fact whether it is a large company or a small or a medium-sized enterprise. Further studies maybe needed to validate these findings and to understand factors affecting patent citations better.
