돈황가사 가운데 聯章의 형식의 가사는 한 수의 隻曲에 비해 이야기를 확장시켜 전개하거나 극적 요소를 첨가하기 수월하다. 따라서 작품의 서사성이나 연행성질이 보다 뚜렷하게 드러난다. 특히 같은 연장 형식이라 하더라도 ‘問答의 형식’을 운용한 경우, 적어도 2인 이상의 배역이 등장함으로써 서사의 구조를 더 복잡하게 하고 인물간 갈등을 심화하여 작품 내의 ‘劇’적 성격을 더욱 강화할 수 있게 된다. 따라서 이들 문답체 가사의 서사 특징이나 연행 형식을 우선 고찰하는 것은 향후의 돈황 연장체가사, 나아가 돈황가사 전반의 서사 성질 및 연행 연구의 기반이 되어줄 수 있다. 본 논문은 돈황 연장체 가사 중 ‘문답의 형식’을 운용한 非불교성 제재의 가사를 연구대상으로 하여, 이들 가사에 나타난 서사 특징과 그에 따른 연행 형식을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 우선 문답의 유형을 ‘선문후답 유형’과 ‘문답혼합전개 유형’으로 나누어 분석한 뒤, 대립 구조를 중심으로 한 돈황 문답체 가사의 서사 특징을 고찰하였고, 연행 형식과 관련하여 그 가능성을 분석함으로써 현장 예술로서의 돈황 문답체 가사에 대한 전면적인 이해를 시도하였다.

This paper centered on the study of the narrative structure and performance characteristics of Dunhuang-Geci(敦煌歌辭)’s questionand- answer type works. The narrative structure of this type of work has the following characteristics. First, it basically shows the narrative structure of simple and direct confrontation. Especially as the focus is on the second work, the second work describes the main theme of the work. This feature is closely related to Canjun-Xi(參軍戱). Second, the nature of the play varies depending on the presence or absence of third-party observer’s point of view intervention. In the case of third-party intervention, the character of the play is strengthened by the appearance of many fingerprints, and the role of leading the overall play in Shuochang(說唱) and Gewu-Xi(歌舞戱) is played the role of leading the overall play. Third, it is possible to produce performances in various forms. It’s basically based on singing. At that time, it was in charge of singing in the drama while interacting with popular Shuochang, Gewu-Xi, Bianwen(變文), and Huaben(話本). What’s important is that one piece is not performed in one format alone. For example, < Nangezi(南歌子·風情問答) > can perform in various forms, including Gechang(歌唱), Shuochang(說唱), Canjun-Xi(參軍戱) and Gewu-Xi(歌舞戱), depending on the circumstances.
