본고는 서정주 시에 나타난 운명과 죽음의 문제에 관하여 연구하였다. 연구대상은 첫 시집인 『화사집』에서 『떠돌이의 시』까지의 작품들이다. 2장 ‘원죄적 운명과 죽음의 애욕’에서는 서정주 시에 나타난 원죄적 운명에 관하여 탐색하면서 이러한 운명의식이 죽음의식에 나타난 애욕의 정서와 연관되고 있음을 분석하였다. 3장 ‘유랑의 운명과 죽음의 위로’에서는 서정주 시에 나타난 유랑의 운명에 관하여 탐색하면서 이러한 운명의식이 죽음의식에 나타난 위로의 정서와 연관되고 있음을 분석하였다. 4장 ‘회귀적 운명과 죽음의 무욕’에서는 서정주 시에 나타난 회귀적 운명에 관하여 탐색하면서 이러한 운명의식이 죽음의식에 나타난 무욕의 정서와 연관되고 있음을 분석하였다. 요컨대 운명과 죽음은 서정주 시의 역동적 구조를 태동시키는 중요한 동인이었다.

Seo Jeong-ju was born in 1915 and started his career in 1936 through the < Dong-A Ilbo >. Seo Jeang-ju is a representative Korean modern poet. This paper studied the question of fate and death in the poem of Seo Jeang-ju. Chapter 2, "The Fate of the Original Sin and the Affection of Death," explores the fate of original sin of Seo Jeong-ju. It is also analyzed that such a sense of fate is related to the feelings of affection shown at the death consciousness. The study's collection of poems is called 『Hwasajip』 and 『Cuichokdo』. Chapter 3, "The Fate of Wandering and the Comfort of Death," explores the fate of the Wandering that appeared in the poem of Seo Jeong-ju. It is also analyzed that such a sense of fate is related to the comfort of the death consciousness. The works of poetry subject to the study are 『Seojeongju Poem Selection』, 『Sillacho』, 『Dongcheon』, and 『Seojeongju Literature Collection』. Chapter 4, "The Fate of Return and the Desireless of Death," explored the Fate of Return that appeared in Seo Jeong-ju. It is also analyzed that such a sense of fate is related to the feelings of Desireless at the death consciousness. The works of poetry subject to the study are 『jilMajae Mythology』 and 『Poem of Ttudori』. In the poem of Seo Jeong-ju, the question of fate and death are always in sync. In short, fate and death are important drivers that initiate the dynamic structure of the poem of Seo Jeang-ju. This paper wishes to contribute to the study of Seo Jeong-ju in the future.
