멀티미디어는 최근 급격한 IT 기술의 발전으로 인해 좋은 하드웨어의 보급과 다양한 소프트웨어 등장, 인터넷 활성화 등으로 우리 실생활에 급속히 파고 들어가게 되었다. 이로 인하여 인터넷 방송국의 등장과 네트워크 게임이 활발해 지면서 웹 사이트는 멀티미디어적인 성격으로 더욱 변모하게 되는데, 인터넷으로 TV도 보게 되었고 인터랙티브 무비영화관도 생겨나게 되었다. 이러한 게임, CD롬 Title, 영화 등은 초창기엔 CD롬이나 컴퓨터 저장장치에 저장하여 필요할 때 실행해 사용하여 왔지만 최근 인터넷이나 무선단말기, 위성TV방송을 셋톱박스를 통하여 공급자와 사용자와의 직접적인 상호작용을 통하여 이루어지게 되었다. 또한 이것에 관한 user interface와 user interaction에 관한 연구도 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구는 그중에서도 영화, 특히 양방향 인터랙티브 무비에 관한 연구를 통하여 새로운 문화 영역의 고찰과 대안을 제시하고자 한다.

Electronic industry technology has made great progress appears including magnificent performance hard and softwares, and activations of internet networking during the last decade. Multimedia makes an inroad into our life. Internet web site undergo a complete transfiguration as multimedia ways, which is new arrival fields brisk markets of internet broadcasting and networking games. It can be watching TV by internet, occurred interactive movie theaters. At early stage, was used in computer storage as hard driver or CDROM medias and then executed when it needed, of these kinds of games, CDROM titles and movies etc. Recently, it makes each other between providers and users through the direct interactions. And also, it going to be the various researches and developments about user interfaces and user interactions. Most of all, this paper tried to make an alternative idea about the new cultural areas and a subtitles.
