Due to the trend that the wave of the information society is rapidly expanding on a global basis, the level of information is emerging as one of the important elements for national competitiveness. To take a competitive position for individuals, corporations, or states beyond their survival in the rapidly changing information environment, they should be able to manage and transmit various information with swiftness and security.
EDI is one of the most important areas for the implementation of Internet Trade. Although EDI is expected to be theoretically very effective in internet trade, it is not in reality. This is because EDI softwares are not only incompatible with other working processes or softwares, but also their initial introduction and operation costs are very expensive. Due to these reasons, most small and medium enterprises can not easily afford to have the EDI systems. To solve these problems, many researchers investigate the future EDI. XML/EDI is one of the future EDI incorporating XML technologies and Internet. Many special properties of XML technologies provide a method for interconnecting other working processes or softwares. Internet trade in EDI systems make their initial introduction and operation costs less expensive. As a result, internet trade reflecting upon the several circumstances is accepted as an alternative plan to the traditional trade.
