지역아동센터는 빈곤아동을 위한 방과후 돌봄 서비스로서 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있다. 본 연구는 지역아동센터의 서비스 도움 정도가 이용 아동의 발달에 미치는 영향과 서비스 질의 조절효과를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 지역아동센터 아동패널 2기 자료를 기반으로 센터에서 제공되는 모든 서비스를 이용한 경험이 있는 305명의 아동을 대상으로 분석을 수행하였다. 지역아동센터의 서비스 도움 정도가 아동발달에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 선형회귀분석 방법을 사용하였고, 서비스 질의 조절효과 분석을 위해 PROCESS macro for SPSS의 Model 1을 활용하였다. 분석의 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 지역아동센터의 서비스 도움 정도는 이용 아동의 학교적응 및 또래애착에 정적으로 그리고 정서문제에 부적으로 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 이용 아동이 인식하는 교사 만족도는 지역아동센터의 서비스 도움 정도가 또래애착에 미치는 영향을 조절하였다. 이와 같은 교사 만족도의 조절효과는 학교적응 및 정서문제에서는 발견되지 않았다. 셋째, 이용 아동이 인식하는 시설/환경 만족도는 지역아동센터의 서비스 도움 정도가 학교적응, 정서문제, 또래애착에 미치는 영향 모두를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 지역아동센터 이용 아동의 발달의 촉진할 수 있는 실천적 전략에 대하여 논의하였다.
Community child centers play an important role in providing after-school child care services to poor children. This study aimed to examine the influence of service usefulness on child development in community child centers and to investigate the moderating effects of service quality. For the purpose, this study conducted analyses by using a sample of 305 children, who used all of the services provided by the centers, from the second stage of the Community Child Centers Panel. Linear regression models were used to examine the influence of service usefulness on child development and the Model 1 of the Process macro for SPSS method was utilized to investigate the moderating effects of service quality. Results are as follows. First, community child centers’ service usefulness positively significantly influenced school adjustment and peer attachment, and negatively significantly influenced emotional problems. Second, children’s satisfaction with teachers did not moderate the influence of service usefulness on school adjustment and emotional problems, but moderated the influence of service usefulness on peer attachment. Third, children’s satisfaction with facilities/environment moderated the influence of service usefulness on school adjustment, emotional problems, and peer attachment. Based on the findings, this study discussed practical strategies to promote the development of children using community child centers.
