이 연구는 발달장애인이 장애 특성상 장애 인구 안에서도 낮은 일상생활만족을 경험하고 있을 가능성에 주목하였다. 이때 사회적 모델을 바탕으로 하여 발달장애 여부가 일상생활만족에 미치는 부정적 영향을 타인 의존도, 차별 경험, 여가·사회활동 등 사회적 요인들이 매개할 것이라는 연구 가설을 세웠다. 연구모형 검증을 위하여 2018년 장애인고용패널 2차웨이브 3차조사에 참여한 장애인 4,025명(발달장애인 406명, 비발달장애인 3,619명)의 응답을 분석하였다. 먼저 SPSS 20.0를 활용하여 주요 변수의 기술통계치와 발달장애 여부에 따른 차이, 상관관계를 분석하였다. 이후 PROCESS Macro의 모형 4를 활용하여 병렬매개효과분석을 시행하였다. 분석 결과 발달장애 여부는 장애인의 일상생활만족에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 타인 의존도와 차별 경험, 여가·사회활동이 이를 매개하였다. 특정간접효과 대비 결과 여가·사회활동과 타인 의존도에 의한 간접효과가 차별 경험에 의한 간접효과보다 높았다. 한편 사회적 요인들이 매개 요인으로 투입되었을 때 발달장애 여부의 직접 효과는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과는 특히 발달장애인의 여가·사회활동 지원과 자립 지원을 중심으로 한 정책적 노력이 발달장애인의 일상생활만족 증진에 효과적일 수 있다는 실천적 의의를 제시한다.

Based on the social model, this study investigated the relationship between developmental disabilities and life satisfaction among disabled people and the medication effects of dependence on others, discrimination, and leisure/social actives on the relationship between developmental disabilities and life satisfaction. The sample consisted of 4,025 disabled people (406 disabled people with developmental disabilities, 3,619 disabled people without developmental disabilities) from the 2018 Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (PSED). Using the PROCESS macro in SPSS, the results showed that developmental disabilities were negatively related with life satisfaction. Dependence on others, discrimination, and leisure/social activities mediated the relationship between developmental disabilities and life satisfaction. Developmental disabilities were associated with (1) higher levels of dependence on others and discrimination and (2) a lower level of leisure/social activities, which in turn reduced the level of life satisfaction among disabled people. The findings from this study indirectly call for policies for people with developmental disabilities who have been socially excluded such as promotion of social participation for people with developmental disabilities.
