This research aimed at searching for the role of dramaturgy in dance performance and verification of value thereof, and suggesting choreographer's broadened work method through dramaturgy based on the researcher's actual experience. Above all, the researcher arranged the concept of dramaturgy through literature research in order to search for the role and the significance of dramaturgy in modern dance performance, and investigated the participation cases in domestic and overseas through choreographers' interview, program, website news, etc., in order to seek the role and application plan of dramaturgy in dance performance. As the result, it was considered that the role of dramaturgy had enough possibility to exert its influence over the creator, accepter, and the whole work, on characteristic of dance genre, also, the value to thoughtfully draw choreographers' theme and function as the pivot of the work was verified.
