최근 소수의 선행연구에서 다문화 청소년의 건강한 성장을 돕기 위해 성취동기 개발의 중요성이 언급되고 있다. 본 연구는 다문화 청소년이 경험하는 문화적응 스트레스와 성취동기의 관계에서 우울과 사회적 위축의 이중매개효과를 검증하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전국단위 표본을 기반으로 하는 다문화청소년 패널조사의 6차년도 자료와 PROCESS macro for SPSS의 모델 6을 활용하여 매개효과 검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 확인된 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화 청소년이 경험하는 문화적응 스트레스는 성취동기와 부적으로 유의미한 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화 청소년의 우울은 문화적응 스트레스와 성취동기의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 다문화 청소년의 사회적 위축은 문화적응 스트레스와 성취동기의 관계를 매개하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 다문화 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스와 성취동기의 관계에서 우울과 사회적 위축의 이중매개효과가 확인되었다. 분석을 통해 확인된 결과를 기반으로 다문화 청소년의 성취동기 향상을 위한 다양한 개입 방안에 대하여 논의하였다.

The importance of developing achievement motivation for the healthy development of multicultural adolescents has been mentioned in recent research. The purpose of this study was to examine the association between acculturation stress and achievement motivation among multicultural adolescents and the dual mediating effect of depression and social withdrawal. For the purpose, utilizing the nationwide data from the sixth wave of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) and Model 6 of the PROCESS macro for SPSS method, this study conducted path and mediation analyses. The main findings provided by this study are as follows. First, multicultural adolescents’ acculturation stress was negatively associated with achievement motivation. Second, multicultural adolescents’ depression mediated the association between acculturation stress and achievement motivation. Third, multicultural adolescents’ social withdrawal did not mediate the association between acculturation stress and achievement motivation. Fourth, multicultural adolescents’ depression and social withdrawal dual-mediated the association between acculturation stress and achievement motivation. Based on the findings, this study discussed intervention strategies to improve achievement motivation for multicultural adolescents.
