현대사회는 다변화되고 대중매체의 발달과 문화적, 예술적 방면에서 독창적이고 창의적인 미적 추구를 요구하고 있다. 특히 헤어 분야는 다양한 개인의 개성을 반영하고 표출될 수 있는 헤어스타일의 다변화가 이루어지고 있다. 이에 개인의 호기심 욕구와 개성표현을 쉽고 빠르게 연출할 수 있는 옵아트의 패턴을 접목한 헤어 스텐실을 연구하였다. 먼저, 옵아트의 정의와 특징을 알아보고, 옵아트의 대표적인 작가인 브리짓 라일리의 작품 중 흑백의 대비가 강하고 선과 면의 조형적 특성이 잘 들어난 4작품을 선정하여 고찰하였다. 이후 스텐실의 특징을 파악하고 분석하여 헤어에 적용 가능한 헤어 스텐실 기법을 소개하고, 옵아트의 대표적인 작가인 브리짓 라일리의 작품을 모티브로 하여 헤어 스텐실 작품 4개를 제작하였다. 모티브가 된 4개의 작품의 대표적인 패턴으로 제작된 도안 위에 OHP 필름을 놓고 원하는 도안을 오려 내어, 헤어 위에 고정한 후 헤어 컬러 스프레이로 분무하여 연출하였다. 향후 진행되는 미용 연구에서는 다양하게 표현하고 연출할 수 있는 패턴 디자인에 대한 연구와 함께 미용 현장뿐만 아니라 새로운 것을 원하는 일반 대중에게도 활용될 수 있는 실용예술로서의 디자인 개발과 작품 제작 연구가 많이 이루어졌으면 한다.

Modern society is changing a lot, with development of mass media, creative and unique aesthetic aspect is in demand in culture and art. In particular, hair style keeps changing because there are many needs to reflect individual’s personality and express. This study is about artworks which combine op-art patterns and use hair stencil technique. Op-art patterns are easy to express patterns in a short time, so appropriate for the public’s personality. First, the study starts with what op-art is and what characteristics op-art has. Then, it introduces Bridget Riley, one of famous op-art artists, and her artworks which are focused on dot, line, side, black, and white. In addition, the study analyzes stencil, which is an artistic style, and its characteristics. Hair stencil technique is also described. Four artworks of Bridget Riley were chosen and the study shows four artworks which use these artworks’ motives and hair stencil technique. The work process starts with drawing patterns of the artworks of Bridget Riley, putting OHP film, and cutting the patterns on the film. Then put the film on hair and spray the hair color spray. Further research will include more studies about pattern designs which can express personality in many various ways. Moreover, for hair designers and people who want new trends, further research will help them to develop for new creative designs and artworks.
