본 연구는 박재연 소장 『허생젼』의 내용과 특징을 분석하여 <담낭전> 이본으로서 『허생젼』을 소개하고 이의 특징을 밝히고자 하였다. <담낭전>은 담낭이라는 어린 소년과 고을 태수가 주고 받는 대화를 중심으로 하며 현재까지는 18종 정도의 이본이 필사본만으로 존재하는 작품군을 지칭한다. ① 담낭의 존재 ② 태수의 질문과 담낭의 대답 ③ 담낭의 총명에 대한 태수의 상급이라는 서사 구조를 기준으로 후일담의 존재와 양상에 따라 <담낭전>은 단국대본 계열, 이대본 계열, 담화사기 계열로 나눌 수 있다. 『허생젼』은 주인공이 허담낭으로 설정되어 있는데 주인공의 이름만 다를 뿐 다른 <담낭전>이본들과 서사구조나 내용에서는 큰 차이가 없다. 그리고 후일담이 없다는 점에서 단국대본 계열의 이본이라고 할 수 있다. 주인공의 이름이 허담낭이라는 점에서 박재연 소장 『허생젼』의 존재는 필사본 문답체 소설 <담낭전> 일반을 포괄하는 고유명사로 <담낭전>이 적절하다는 것을 입증하는 근거가 된다. 『허생젼』은 <담낭전>이본 가운데 가장 분량이 많은 것으로 파악된다. 하지만 질문의 수가 다른 이본들에 비해 적으며 그에 대한 대답에서 근거를 장황하게 서술하거나 일부 내용에서는 다른 이본에 비해 확대 부연되는 특징을 가지고 있다. <담낭전>의 이본들은 문답체를 기반으로 하여 필사본 소설의 전형성을 효과적으로 반영하고 있는데 이러한 맥락에서 박재연 소장 『허생젼』은 필사본 고소설 <담낭전>의 특징을 잘 보여주는 이본으로서의 의미를 가진다.

This study analyzes the contents and characteristics of Jae-Yeon Park's 『HuhSaengjeon』, thereby the purpose of this study is to introduce 『HuhSaengjeon』as a version of and to clarify its characteristics. is a work centered on a conversation between a young boy named Damnang and Tae-soo,(太守) a group of works that currently exist only with 18 versions of the manuscript. has the narrative structure of ① the existence of Damnang ② Tae-Soo's question and Damnang's answer ③ reward of Tae-soo for the intelligence of Damnang. On this basis, according to the existence and aspect of the later story, can be divided into Dankook University version, Ewha Womans University version and Damhwasagi version. The protagonist of 『HuhSaengjeon』 is Heo Dam Nang, only the name of the protagonist is different, but there are no big differences in the narrative structure or content of other versions. 『HuhSaengjeon』 is a variant of Dankook University version in that there is no later story. In that the protagonist's name is HuhDamnang, the existence of Jae-Yeon Park's 『HuhSaengjeon』 is a proper noun encompassing the general and serves as a basis for demonstrating that is appropriate. 『HuhSaengjeon』 is the most abundant of versions in . But the number of questions is less than the others, and the answer has a long narrative description or, in some content, extends more than other versions.
