본 논문은 성결-오순절운동의 핵심 신앙이요, ‘신앙의 규칙(regula fidei)’이라 할 수 있는 ‘사중복음’-중생, 성결, 신유, 재림-의 신학적 해석학 정립을 위한 역사적 · 성서적 · 교의적 고찰이다. 우리는 이 연구를 통해 사중복음 해석학은 역사적으로는 존 웨슬리의 신앙체험과 신학 전통 위에 수립될 수 있으며, 성서 · 교의적으로는 하나님의 삼위일체적 경륜에 뿌리를 내릴 수 있음을 밝히고자 했다. 우리 연구는 이를 위해서 웨슬리의 삶 가운데 사중복음 신앙체험이 어떠한 모양으로 있었는지를 고찰하고, 성부 하나님, 성자 예수 그리스도, 성령이 각각 사중복음적 경륜을 어떻게 이루었는지를 성경 안에서 찾기 위하여 성서주석 학자들과 비판적으로 대화하면서 삼위일체 하나님의 경륜 가운데 사중복음이 뿌리내리고 있음을 제출했다.

This paper is a historical-biblical-doctrinal consideration for the theological hermeneutics of the Fourfold Gospel-Regeneration, Holiness/Sanctification, Divine Healing, Second Coming-which is the core faith and regula fidei of the Holiness-Pentecostal movement. This study sought to reveal that the Fourfold Gospel hermeneutics can be established historically on John Wesley’s experience of faith and theological tradition, and can be rooted in the biblical-doctrinal trinitarian economy of God. To this end, our study examines the shape of the Fourfold Gospel faith experience in Wesley’s life, and finds in the Bible whether the Father God, the Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit have each achieved the economy of the Fourfold Gospel. Based on the critical dialogue with biblical commentators, we submit that the Fourfold Gospel is taking root in the economy of the Triune God.
