Saekdong fabrics of Korea shown in Silk Road Grassland

Analyze the similarities and differences between Saekdong (色同) in Korea and Saekdong in Tibetan and Xinjiang folk costume of Silk road. Multi-color band of clothing represents their prosperity and joy in life abundant. Various colorful stripes were found in Bangjeon apron of Tibetan's costume. Bangjeon is made of wool of various colors with horizontal lines which is different to Korean Saekdong, and color combination is somewhat different for they use gradation colors and black in color stripes. And a variety of multicolored stripes band appeared in the sleeves and skirt which reminded of Korean traditional jackets and skirts with Saekdong fabrics. Goguryeo tomb wall painting showed many stripe Saekdong skirts and width of color is equal. Korean Saekdong has unique of the equal color intervals. Although there are many studies on Tibetan and Saekdong, this research on Saekdong found in silk road grassland shows cloth culture with stripes of many colors in harmony and exchanges.
