지금의 시대에 대학의 역할은 본질적으로 인재양성 이라는 가장 근본적인 역할뿐 아니라 학생들의 성공적인 사회진출이라는 필연적인 과제해결도 매우 중요하게 되었다. 특히 청년실업이 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 시대적 상황과 맞물려 이러한 대학의 역할은 더욱 중요하게 되었다. 이런 상황에서 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로서 중요하게 활용되고 있는 것이 대학과 지역시회가 연계하는 산학협력 활동이다. 산학협력 활동은 대학과 지역사회와의 다양한 연계를 기반으로 학생들의 역량강화 및 현장경험 증대를 기반으로 취업가능성을 향상시킬 수 있는 대표적인 사업이다. 특히 이공계에 비해 현장을 경험하기가상대적으로 어려운 인문학중심의 비이공계 학과들에게 전공관련 현장기업과의 연계 통한 프로젝트 공동추진은 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 인문학이 지니고 있는 학문적 범위는 인간의 사고와 창의력을 넓히고 확장시키는데 매우 유용하며, 이런 역량은 산학협력 활동에 있어 기획 및 마케팅 관련 분야에서 다양한 역할을 수행할 수 있다. 문화라는 가치를 담고 있는 학문이 인문학이며 문화는 인간의 정신과 육체를 움직이는 핵심적인 역할을 수행하기 때문이다. 따라서 이런 역량을 지닌 학생들의 현장과 연계한 산학협력 활동은 수행주체들이 요구하는 성과창출을 가능하게 하는 것이다. 비이공계 캡스톤디자인의 다양화를 기반으로 각 대학마다 구축되어 있는 가족기업 인프라를 활용한 지속적인 지역사회 연계 네트워크를 강화하고 공동프로젝트 사업을 확대하여 대학은 학생역량강화 및 취업의 성과, 지역사회는 원하는 인재확보를 모두 충족시킬 수 있도록 하는 전략적 산학협력 활동이 이루어져야 하는 것이다.
