이 논문은 한국의 야담을 대상으로 현재 활용에 대한 연구 현황과 사례를 살펴보았다. 야담은 가장 한국적 이야기의 특성을 보여주는, 동아시아 다른 나라에서는 볼 수 없는 한국의 고유한 갈래라고 생각한다. 야담의 활용에서는 번역이 우선이다. 야담 작품 대부분은 한문으로 씌어있기에 일찍이 야담집에서 작품을 뽑아 엮은 전집류가 나왔다. 지금도 야담집의 번역이 속출하고 있다. 다양한 매체 활용 논의는 진행 중이다. 활용 가능한 형태의 자료 가공과 제공이 필요한데 공공기관이 맡아 공공화해야 한다는 것, 다음으로 자료에 대한 자문과 영상물에 대한 비평이 가능한 상설 기구가 필요하다는 것, 마지막으로 이러한 토대 구축과 함께 인적 교류, 전문인력 양성이 이루어져야 한다는 논의가 있었다. 야담 활용에 대한 연구는 야담 연구에 비하면 적고 이제 시작 단계이다. 지금까지 야담 연구는 문헌학적 연구와 역사주의적 접근이 압도적이었다. 최근 고전의 현대화, 대중화 요구에 부응하여 새로운 시도가 펼쳐지고 있지만 실제적인 성과를 거두기에는 시간과 노력이 필요해 보인다. 필자는 평소 야담에 대한 관심을 교육에 연결하고자 하였다. 재직 대학교 교양수업에 야담 관련 수업을 개설하였다. 그 결과 야담이 무엇이든지 간에 그것을 현재에 활용하는 것은 디지털세대이고 유연한 사고를 하는 학생들이 유리한 지점에 있음을 새삼 느꼈다.

The paper looks at the current status of research and examples of the current utilization of Korean yadam. Yadam thinks it is Korea's unique branch, which is not seen in other East Asian countries, that shows the characteristics of the most Korean story. Translation is a priority in the use of Yadam. Most of Yadam's works are written in Chinese characters, so early on, they were composed of a collection of pieces from a Yadam house. There are still many translations of Yadam's books. Discussions on utilizing a variety of media are underway. There were also discussions about the need for data processing and provision in a usable form, the need for public institutions to take charge of it, the need for permanent organizations to consult on data and criticize video footage, and finally, the need for human interaction and professional training along with the establishment of such a foundation. The study on the use of Yadam is small compared to that of Yadam and is now in its beginning stage. So far, the Yadam study has dominated literary research and historical approaches. Although new attempts are being made to meet the demands of modernizing and popularizing classics, it seems that time and effort are needed to achieve actual results. I had yadam to connect to interest in education. Culture class of service to and created yadam to the relevant class. As a result, whatever it is yadam to the current flexible thinking and digital generation to take advantage of the students felt once again that in a good vantage point.
