후설의 현상학에서 윤리에 대한 논의는 전기와 후기로 이루어져 있다. 후설의 현상학이 ‘정적 현상학’과 ‘발생적 현상학’으로 구분되듯, 후설의 현상학에서 윤리에 대한 논의도 전기와 후기의 논의로 이해된다. 전기의 현상학적 윤리학은 정적 현상학의 분석처럼 윤리 규범의 보편적 타당성 정초에 중점을 둔다면, 후기의 현상학적 윤리학은 발생적 현상학의 특징처럼 발생적 정초의 타당성에 중점을 둔다. 후기 윤리의 논의에서 규명되는 윤리 규범의 발생적 정초와 관련하여 본 논문은 후설에게 도덕 주체로서 실천 행위자의 발생적 상황이 어떻게 이해되는지를 주목한다. 후설은 실천 행위자의 발생적 분석의 출발점으로서 ‘인격성’에 주목하는데, 이와 관련하여 논문은 후설이 인격자를 어떻게 이해하는지를 그 특징들을 중심으로 밝히고자 한다. 이와 같은 후설의 인격자 이해에는 주체의 소멸을 이야기하는 오늘날의 세태에 거슬러 주체의 윤리적 실천의 가능성을 다른 차원에서 고찰하게 하는 의의가 있다.

The aim of this paper is to clarify the personality of Husserl’s Ethics. Husserl’s phenomenology is usually divided into ‘static phenomenology (statische Phänomenologie)’ and ‘genetic phenomenology (genetische Phänomenologie)’, the discussions on his ethics are conducted from two angles: the method of static phenomenology and the method of genetic phenomenology. The former is called “early ethics,” while the latter can be considered as “later ethics.” Husserl’s early ethical discussion focuses on laying the foundation for the universal validity of ethical norms, which is similar to the analysis of static phenomenology. His later debate on ethics emphasizes the validity of ethical circumstances faced by personal I, the subject of ethical judgment and behavior. Early phenomenological ethics were oriented toward indiscriminate universality while, in contrast, later discussion of ethics evolves from the perspective of establishing ethical norms. the later debates put focuses on the self-understanding of a practitioner as a “personal I,” ‘inter-subjectivity,’ ‘altruistic understanding as empathy,’ and further concentrates on the grasp of ‘vocation,’ ‘responsibility,’ ‘renewal,’ ‘love,’ and ‘community.’ Among the main concepts of his later ethics, this paper focuses on ‘personality’, and aims to elucidate how Husserl understands the personality.
