이 연구는 중국인 화자와 한국인 중국어 화자 간의 일상대화를 중심으로 한국인 중국어 화자에게서 나타나는 반복 현상의 특징과 전략적 동기를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 정량적인 분석 결과 중국인 화자에 비하여 한국인 중국어 화자에게서 반복 현상이 압도적으로 많이 나타난다. 특히 반복을 통한 동의와 수정요구의 경우 중국인 화자에 비하여 한국인 중국어 화자에 의하여 수행되는 비율이 훨씬 높게 나타난다. 정성적인 분석 결과 한국인 중국어 화자에게서 나타나는 반복은 화자들 간의 원활한 의사소통과 상호작용을 통한 학습을 이끌어 내는 기능을 수행한다. 모국어 화자인 중국인 화자에 비하여 언어 자원이 충분하지 않은 한국인 중국어 화자는 최대한 상대방 화자에게 긍정적이고 적극적인 반응을 보여 협동적으로 대화를 이끌어 가는 노력의 일환으로 반복을 선택한다. 한국인 중국어 화자는 반복을 통하여 자신이 단순히 중국인 화자의 발화를 수용하며 듣는 것만이 아니라 적극적으로 대화를 이끌어가고 상대방을 격려하며 대화를 촉진하는 역할을 하는 것을 보여 줌으로써 원활한 의사소통을 이끈다. 또한, 비모국어 화자인 한국인 중국어 화자는 모국어 화자인 중국인 화자가 제공한 표현을 반복함으로써 모방을 하는 동시에 화자자신의 것으로 내재화한다. 한국인 중국어 화자는 주로 언어 학습에서 학습 항목의 기억과 인지를 위해 가장 많이 활용되는 방법인 반복을 통하여 상대방 화자와의 상호작용 과정에서 스스로 적극적인 노력을 통해 학습의 효과를 증진시키고자 한다.

This study investigates repetitions occurring in Chinese conversations between native speakers and speakers whose native language is Korean. This study uses both conversation analysis and corpus-based quantitative methods to show that repetitions function as a means of providing confirmation, showing that the speaker is in agreement with the previous speaker, providing answers to questions, initiating repair in the next turn, and displaying the speaker’s stance or attitudes etc. Repetitions by Korean speakers can be used not only for smooth communication, but also for the studying of Mandarin Chinese. Finally this study suggests that repetition among Korean speakers is interactively and socially organized between the Korean speaker and the Chinese native speaker in the unfolding interaction and intersubjectivity is preserved between the participants.
