The Princeton WordNet (PWN) began to be developed about 30 years ago. A variety of word nets were constructed ever since using different representation types and different building methods. Among them, PWN became the most productive reference model derivating more than 50 WordNets over 40 languages, and it turns to its 2nd era for realizing multilinguality. This paper is a critical essay on WordNets, i.e. PWN-type word nets. It discuses the state-of-the-art of WordNets and presents 2 multilingual WordNet models: Asian WordNet and Global WordNet Grid.
