The Korean society was able to shorten the time by intentionally expediting the process in order to obtain expected results due to societal and political reasons. National harmony, promotion of national image, individualism, schooling, and procurement of regional reputation were the reasons for winning and were apparent manifest consequences. Thirdly, the compressed modernity of Korean elite-sport manifested itself as an exhibitive sport. The exhibitive sports were a series of sports events a means of diplomacy. Even though a sport-strong nation cannot become an economically or politically strong nation, sport scores in international sports events becomes a criterion of promoted national image. Korea was obsessed by such a notion almost certainly due to the sport-oriented nationalistic social atmosphere which reached its zenith in the 1980s starting from the 1960s. In conclusion, sport in Korean society has carried a role imperative to the national political system. In particular, the modern Korean sport was a state-led official sport and revealed a result-oriented tendency by placing an emphasis on winning victories both in domestic and international sports events. From the perspective of improving the national image, an exhibitive sport, which played an important role in forging propaganda on an international front, became prevalent.
