농구선수들의 성격특성을 파악하고자 고등학교 대학교 프로 각 6개 팀의 선수 총 197명을 대상으로 아이젱크(Hans Eysenck，1947)의 설문지를 이용하여 진실성, 내-외향성 신경증적 경향성 등을 조사한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다 내외향성 지수는 포인트 가드가 13.61 로 기장 높게 나타났으나 다른 포지션과의 차이는 없었으며 신경증적 경향성 지수에서는 센터가 14.72로 가장 높게 나타났으며 슛팅 가드가 11.81 로 가장 낮게 나타나 두 그룹간 통계적으로 유의한 치(p<.05)가 있었는데 이는 포지션에 따른 신경증적 경향성의 특성이 나타남을 보여주었다. 진실성 지수에서는 포인트 가드가4.03으로 가장 높게 나타났으며 센터가 3.08로 가장 낮게 나타나 이들 두 그룹사이에 유의한 차p<.05)가 있었다 한편 그룹별로는 내-외향성 지수에서는 대학 선수들이 13.92로 가장 높게 나타났으나 타 그룹과의 차이는 없었고 신경증적 경향성 지수에서는 고등학교 선수들이 14.08로 가장 높게 나타났으며 프로 선수가 9.71로 가장 낮게 나타나 두 그룹간에 유의한 차(p<.05)가 있었는데 이는 프로선수로 성장되어지는 과정에서 가장 심리적으로 안정되고 우수한 선수들이 선발되어지기 때문인 것으로 사료된다

The purpose of this study was investigate the tempera mental characteristics of 197 basketball players. In this research we adopted the method of Eysenck(1947) for the temperament survey. The results of this study were as follows: Meanwhile, when we categorize the temperamental characteristics in terms of their position, we find that the point guards are dominantly choleric, then equally sanguine, melancholic or phlegmatic. Shooting guards are predominantly choleric or sanguine, then somewhere between sanguine and phlegmatic, between sanguine and melancholic, and between melancholic and phlegmatic. Small forwards were shown to be largely choleric, then sanguine, phlegmatic and melancholic in order. Power forwards were dominantly choleric or phlegmatic, then melancholic and sanguine in the order. The center positioners were either choleric or melancholic, then sanguine, followed by melancholic.
