Objective: The Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire (PISQ) and its short form version, the PISQ-12, the only current validated condition-specific female sexual function questionnaires, have been used to assess sexual function in women with UI and/or POP. However PISQ did not include the women without partner or those who did not consider themselves to be sexually active. Therefore PISQ may underestimate pelvic floor disorder(PFD) impact on sexual function since women with severe PFD may elect to become sexually inactive. The PISQ-IR is developed and validated in order to include these limitations. This study was conducted to develop a Korean version of PISQ-IR(Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual questionnaire-IUGA Revised). Methods: At first, all of translation work was approved by IUGA(International Urogynecological Association) office. The 20-item instrument was translated by two experienced bilingual translator into Korean. These two Korean versions were modulated by translation protocol of IUGA. The modulated Korean version was sent to the other bilingual translator back into English. They did not see the original English questionnaire, nor did they consult with others or show the back-translated version to anyone. Discrepancies between the original English version and back translated version were reviewed and reflected into Korean version. The 5 patients with pelvic floor disorders were asked to perform the questionnaires. Results: Korean version of PISQ-IR was completed. Conclusion: Translation and linguistic validation of the Korean version of PISQ-IR was completed. Further process of validation of this questionnaire will be required.
