Objective: Herbal plants such as Piper sarmentosum possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds which have been used widely for wound, antihyperglycemia and antimalarial purposes for centuries. P. sarmentosum is also known to have polyphenolic compound such as quercetin which can scavenge free radicals that reduce inflammation, delay oxidant injury and cell death. Wound healing deficiency is one of the problems inflicted on the body due to many reasons such as excessive production of free radicals which also causes diabetic complications. Methods: Therefore, few experiments such as AlamarBlueTM cell viability, migration assay and DPPH assays were done and measured fluorometrically to evaluate the assessment of P. sarmentosum and quercetin in wound healing activity. Results: The results have shown positive proliferation, scratch closure rate and DPPH level in fibroblast cell compared to control. Conclusion: These results suggest that P. sarmentosum extract and quercetin can in fact help in enhancing and improving wound healing activity in the body.
