Objective: To analyze mortality rate between 100 diabetic patients with hepatitis comorbidity and 100 diabetic patients without comorbidity. Methods: The study population was arranged into 2 groups: Diabetes Mellitus group without comorbidity (DM group) and Hepatitis group (diabetic patients with hepatitis comorbidity). 100 T2DM patients for DM group were chosen randomly among patients, visiting at the diabetes center, and another 100 T2DM patients were selected for Hepatitis group based on Hepatitis test. The study was initiated at the Cambodia-Korea Diabetes Center. We used glucometer to test for T2DM. Patients have T2DM when the FPG level > 126 mg/dL. The analysis in Hepatitis group should be possible by affirming when patients had positive test for hepatitis viruses, either type B or type C. Results: Among 200 T2DM patients in DM and Hepatitis groups, we found that most patients were middle age (35 to 54 years old). The outcomes outlined that 65% of patients in DM group and 70% in Hepatitis group never have any relatives with T2DM. Moreover, most patients have diabetes < 5 years. Among patients in DM group, the ordinary glycemic level was around 235 mg/dL. Moreover, the lowest glycaemia level was 95 mg/dL on average, while the highest level was 355 mg/dL. Additionally,in Hepatitis group, typical glycemic level was around 240 mg/dL. The result clearly showed that over 80% in Hepatitis group do not have cirrhotic hepatitis. Lastly, we found that 5% and 16% of patients in DM and Hepatitis groups, separately, did not come to follow up with their regular checkup and treatment after 1 year. Conclusion: Eventually, we discovered that 16 patients from Hepatitis group and 5 from DM group had passed away. In our research, we could affirm the mortality in T2DM patients who have hepatitis comorbidity is 3 times higher than normal T2DM patients.
