본고는 국내 인터넷 커뮤니티에서 유통되어 온 ‘붓싼문학’의 사례 분석을 통해 타자의 재현 양상을 기술, 분석하였다. 인터넷 혐오 담론이 반영하는 특정 커뮤니티의 정체성이나 혐오 표현에 반영된 화자의 의도에 천착하는 대신 인터넷 커뮤니티에 공유된 텍스트 자체의 장르적 성격과 상호텍스트적 구성이 어떻게 혐오의 효과를 전달하는지 보고자 하였다. 붓싼문학은 부산을 여행한 서울 사람의 경험을 담은 이야기 장르의 서사 구조를 가지며, 인터넷 커뮤니티 이용자들이 사실과 허구라는 구분을 중심으로 텍스트의 의미에 대한 논쟁을 한다는 점에서 도시괴담 장르의 형식을 가졌다. 섞인 음식이라는 소재를 통해 오염과 무질서를 재현하고, 혼자에 대비되는 집단을 배치하여 집단이 주는 위협을 묘사하였으며, 다른 맥락의 텍스트를 재맥락화하여 인용하거나 과장된 경상도 방언 표현으로써 전형적 타자를 재현하는 방식들이 붓싼문학 텍스트에서 타자화 전략으로 활용되었다. 본고의 의의는 언어인류학적인 고찰을 통하여, 일상적이고 유희적 담화 속에서 혐오의 의미가 재생산될 수 있다는 점을 보여주었다는 점이다. 그러나 본고에서 다룬 장르와 사례들만으로는 한국 사회의 지역주의 및 보편적인 타자화 양상에 대한 이해를 하기에 부족하므로 추후 지속적 연구가 필요하다.
In this paper, I explore the discursive strategies of Othering by analyzing the examples of “Bussan Munhak (Busan literature)” that have recenly been circulating in on-line communities in Korea. Unlike previous studies focused on the ideologies of a particular internet communities or speaker’ s intention in the hate speeches, this paper focuses on the pattern in which stereotyped images are reproduced through intertextual construction of text and metapragmatic discourses that frame the genre of the narratives. In particular, I pay attention to the intertextual construction that includes the meanings of symbols containing distaste for places that are largely unfamiliar to the speaker of the story, the forms of urban legend reproducing fear, and the metapragmatic evaluation surrounding Bussan Munhak. Bussan Munhak features the narrative structure that involves the experience of a Seoulite who traveled to Busan. The style of sharing food described in the story, the experience of eating alone in public places, and the previous texts in another context and the use of Mock Busan dialect were utilized to represent typical Busan people. As an example of intertextuality that separates the self from the other, the paper will contribute to discussions on regional disparagement and online hate discourse in Korean society. However, the genre and examples covered in this paper alone have limitations to generalize the Busan’s image, regionalism and othering discourses in Korean society.
