이 글은 해방 이후 제주도방언의 어휘에 대한 자료 수집과 연구 결과를 알아 보고, 과제를 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 자료 수집과 연구 결과는 어휘 자료집 및 방언사전 발간, 분야별 어휘 연구, 개별 어휘 연구, 언어지도, 보고서, 구술과 구비전승, 교육 자료 등으로 구분하여 그 성과를 살폈다. 특히 자료집과 방언사전 발간에서는 그동안 간행된 7종에 대해서는 많은 양을 할애하여 다루었다. 과제는 현장 조사의 중요성, 지역 실정에 맞는 질문지 마련, 체계적인 자료 정리 등을 제시하였다. 아울러 시대에 맞게 멀티미디어를 자료집 개발과 구어체회화집 발간도 서둘러야 함을 강조하였다.

The purpose of this report is to review the data collection and the result of the study about dialect vocabulary of Jeju after liberation to present tasks. The study on data collection and its result is conducted according to these categories - publishing wordbooks and dialect dictionaries, studying vocabulary by sector, studying each vocabulary, word maps, reports, oral statements and oral heritages, and educational materials. Seven books are especially treated in the publishing wordbooks and dialect dictionaries category. The importance of a field survey, making questionnaires according to regional circumstances, and organizing resources systematically are treated in the task section. Developing new wordbooks using multimedia to adapt the Digital Age and publishing phrase books are also emphasized.
