본 연구는 아버지가 생각하는 가정 내 유아 성교육 실행과정 속에서 겪은 어려움, 이후 아버지들이 바라는 성교육의 방향은 어떠한지를 고찰해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2017년 6월 23일부터 9월 20일까지 유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지 6명을 대상으로 각 2회씩 심층개별면담을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 개방코딩, 범주화, 범주 확인의 단계로 비교분석법을 유형화하는 과정을 통해 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 아버지들은 가정 내 성교육 실행과정에서 어려움을 나타내었는데 그 원인으로는 성에 대한 심리적 당황스러움과 부담감, 성교육에 대한 지식의 부재, 성관련 용어의 혼란을 이유로 언급하였다. 이에 따라 아버지들은 ‘예방적 차원의 성교육’과 ‘미디어로부터 보호할 수 있는 성교육’을 성교육에 대한 방안으로 제시하였다. 또한 아버지들은 가정 내 성교육을 실행하며 스스로의 노력만으로 극복하기 어려움 한계점이 있음을 느껴 ‘부모를 위한 성교육’,‘성교육의 가이드라인 제공’, ‘간편한 손 안에 교육’을 요구하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the difficulties and demands of the fathers’ domestic sex education for their young children. To this end, the researchers conducted in-depth interviews with six fathers with young children from June 23 to September 20, 2017. The collected data were analyzed through the process of classifying the comparative analysis as open coding, categorization, and category identification. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the fathers expressed difficulties in the process of practicing sex education in the home because of the difficulty in the psychological embarrassment and burden of sexuality, the lack of knowledge about sex education, and the confused use of terms related to sex education. Second, the fathers wanted the generation of children to be receptive to sex and to form an idea of understanding and respecting the values of others. Therefore, 'preventive sex education' and 'sex education that can protect from media' were suggested as demands for sex education. In addition, the fathers demanded ‘sexual education for parents’, ‘provision of guidelines for sex education’, and ‘education in easy hands’.
