Fifteen hoalthy trained, middle-aged fermales (age=34.8±3.6yr ; 30∼43yr) Were studied to determine effects of 10 weeks of Aerobic dance un plasma cholesterol concentrations.
The exercise program was cansisted of 60 minutes aerobic danciong 5 times. WK^-1 on consecutive days (Monday to Friday), for 10 weeks. The intensity of exercise was moderate(60%HRmax∼85%HRmax).
Plasma cholesterol leveks were analyzed using by ultracentrifugation Blood samples were taken from antecubital vein during 90 : 00∼09 : 40 on each test day before and after the exercise program.
The minimum fasting hour of each subject was twelve.
The results of this study showed that ; (1) there were not statistically significance in the difference between the pre-and post-test means for plasma T-C, HDL-C, LDL-C, VLDL-C, Tg concentrations and the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL-C(T-C/HDL-C), (2) After the 10 weeks of exercise program, however, plasma HDL-C concentration increased by 11%, about 5㎎/㎗(p=0.0787).
These results indicated that a 10 weeks of aerobic dancing does not alter plasma cholesterol levels when inital levels of plasma T-C, LDL-C, VLDL-C, Tg & T-C/HDL-C are low and high initial HDL-C level.
