The Purpose of this study was to find out pro-soccer and baseball players’ organizational commitment.
336 questionnaires(soccer ; 128, baseball : 208) were analysed for this study.
Players’ organizational commitment was measured by organizational commitment questionnaire (OCQ) which developed by Porter et al(1974). Also, individual characteristics were measured by additional section of questions.
Cronbach’s coefficient of OCQ were 0.644-0.821.
After those analyses of the data, the following conclusion could be drawn.
1. The subjects’ organizational commitment appeared to be higher than the medium score. The organizational commitment of professional soccer and baseball players’ were regarded as relatively high.
2. According to the subjects’ personal characteristics, organizational commitment was as follows:
1) There was no difference in religion and in scholastic career.
2) The significant correlational variables which we could see in statistics between the subjects’ general characteristics and the organizational commitment were
(1) the age and organizational commitment, professional careers and organizational commitment, and the annual salaries and organizational commitment in the case of professional soccer players’.
(2) the age and organizational commitment, the annual salaries and organizational commitment in the case of professional baseball players’.
3) Only in the case of professional soccer players, the organizational commitment of the married proved to higher than that of the single players.
