이 글에서는 ≪방언학≫ 5호와 6호에 연재한 "새 방언 소개"와 "새 방언 소개(2)"에 이어 ≪방언학≫ 7호에 소개한 "새로 발굴한 방언(1)"에 이어 아직 소개되지 않은 새로운 방언을 소개하고자한다. 이 글에서 소개되는 새로 발굴한 방언은 아직까지 전혀 소개되지 않은 새로운 방언은 물론이고 소개되었더라도 풀이가 잘못 되었거나 형태는 중앙어와 같지만 의미나 용법 면에서 큰 차이를 보여 새롭게 이해해야 하는 단어들이나 형태소들이다. 이 글에서 소개하는 새로 발굴한 방언은 토박이 화자들이 일상생활에서 실제로 사용했던 방언 가운데 국어사전에 등재되어 있지 않은 단어나 형태소들이다. 여기에서는 이들 단어나 형태소들을 발굴하여 소개함으로써 급속히 소멸되어가는 지역어를 문자로 고정시켜 국어 어휘를 풍부하게 하고 이해의 편의를 제공하고자 한다. 방언 어휘들은 이들이 사용되는 지역의 문화나 주민들의 정서를 가장 잘 반영하고 있다. 방언은 그 방언이 사용되는 지역의 생활상을 반영하고 있기 때문에 그 방언이 사용되는 맥락에서 가장 잘 이해될 수 있고 방언의 맛과 멋을 가장 잘 드러내 준다. 이 글에는 충청도, 제주도, 경상도, 함경도 지역에서 사용되는 방언 가운데 국어사전에 등재되어 있지 않은 어휘들을 각 지역별로 다섯 개씩 뽑아 모두 스무 개의 방언을 소개하고 있다. 여기에 소개된 방언들은 필자들이 그동안 관찰하고 조사하고 연구해 온 방언 자료들을 대상으로 하였기 때문에 '관련지역'에 표시된 지역 이외의 지역에서도 사용될 수 있다. 지금까지 알려져 있지 않은 새로운 방언 어휘를 발굴하여 알리는 작업은 우리말을 풍부하게 해주는 보배가 된다. 새로 발굴한 어휘에 대한 소개는 국어사전의 어휘를 확장할 수 있고 국어연구의 지평을 넓혀준다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 이런 점에서 방언 어휘의 의미는 물론이고 문법적인 기능과 용법 등에 대하여 자세히 기술할 필요가 있다. 이 글에는 대응 표준어가 없는 어휘뿐만 아니라 표준어에 대응되는 방언도 함께 소개되어 있다. 방언은 표준어와 형태가 동일해도 의미나 용법이 전혀 다르거나 크게 차이를 보일 수 있고 방언과 방언 간에도 용법이나 의미 차이가 있을 수 있기 때문에 제시된 방언에 대응하는 표준어가 있는 경우는 좀 더 면밀한 검토와 주의가 요구된다.

The purpose of this paper is to introduce and investigate the new dialect words that are used in a regional dialect in Korea. Twenty dialect words are introduced in this paper. This twenty dialect words are all the important linguistic material from the lexical point of view. This dialect materials were recorded from native speaker's dialogue, dictation and literary works. This twenty dialect words include Chungcheong-do dialect, Cheju-do dialect, Kyeongsang-do dialect and Hamkyeong-do dialect. Chungcheong-do dialect words were written by Park Kyeongrae(Semyung University), Cheju-do dialect words were written by Kang Youngbong(Cheju University), Kyeongsang-do dialect words were written by Kim Jungdae(Kyeongnam University) and Hamkyeong-do dialect words were written by Kwak Chunggu(Sogang University). We set out the standard word corresponds to dialect, a part of speech, a definition of the dialect word, a diversity forms of the each dialect word, related area, illustrative sentences and explanation to each dialect word. We can find through this work that the new dialect words makes significant contribution to study of the dialect. And the new dialect words enrich our vocabulary.
