방언은 역사적인 산물로 다른 방언과 공통성을 공유하면서, 방언차라는 개별성을 가진다. 방언 연구의 의의는 방언의 이러한 특징에서 찾을 수 있다. 존재의 개별성과 공유성 혹은 다양성과 일관성 등의 분화에서 찾을 수 있고, 존재의 가치 평등성, 상대적인 가치관 등도 방언을 연구하면서 자연스럽게 터득할 수 있는 인생의 교훈이다. 방언 연구는 인간을 이해하고자 하는 인문학의 특징을 가장 잘 드러내 주는 연구가 되는 것이다.
This paper is aimed at the meaning of studying the dialects. Dialects have something in common with other dialects and one dialects differ greatly from other dialects. We study the meaning of the lingual equality and the relative truth through the study of dialects. The Dialectology is the most suitable study to understand the human beings.
