The purpose of regional language study is different from that of regional language research. That is to study regional language in systemic method, and this is to collect words in various categories and characteristics of Korean language by certain researchers in a limited time. Therefore, the entry list for study on regional language must be systematically prepared to cover phonemes, lexicon, and grammar according to each regional language. On the other hand, the entry list of a research on regional language is not systemic or properly organized owing to the fact that we have so many places to research in a limited time.
The researching entries for studying regional languages are to be made as follows; firstly, the entries for the phonological study must be made to show the entire phonemic inventory and all the phonological processes. Secondly, the entries for the lexical study must be organized concerning the open-system of lexicon. To make an academic result with open-raged lexicon, we should classify it into perceptionally closed systems, such as words about relatives, or clothing. Lastly, the entries for the grammatical study must be proposed to find the list of morphemes of stems and endings, to show the syntactic functions or and semantic features of them, and to investigate stylistics, honorifics, negations, passives and causatives, and so on.
The entry list for the studying regional languages is surely necessary for following two reason. It can be used in studying individual dialect, and researchers can hold the results in common, because the entries are shared. And after we accumulated those studies, we can prove the commons and differences between regional languages in synchronic study, and reveal the history of Korean in diachronic study.
