『源平盛衰記』は作者の玄學的趣味、好事家的暴露、揷話的要素の大量揷入、文章の長文化、散漫な構成、結果論的批判などの理由で否定的に評價されてきた。その反面、文體及び批判的立場としての統一性などは肯定的評價に作用された。 本稿は「橋合戰」に當る文章の表現と構成について次のようなことを確認した。合戰に入る前の服裝と武器についての描寫が甚だしく詳しくて誇張されている。武士個人の個性的側面が過當に浮彫りされている。その反面、文章の表現を通じて部分的描寫においては自らの妥當性を追求している。また細密化と誇張が事實か否かに關わらず、讀者の方にはより具體的な情報を與えるにある程度の效果を擧げている。 合戰の段階での明春の行動及び周りの人物と狀況描寫には過當な細密性と誇張性を見せている。その反面、明春の行動に關する敍述には所タ論理的な妥當性の確保を試みている。その爲、再び自己合理化を追加する矛盾を露出することもある。 忠綱の行動描寫においては蛇足を加えたり重複した言及を見せている。その爲現場の迫進感を生かしていない。その反面、忠綱個人の優しさや人間的に配慮する姿などを付け加えている。狀況の變化によって敍述展開の方式を合理的に持っていこうともしている。 「橋合戰」の全體の構成は延慶本とほぼ一致するが、文章の內容においては覺一本に近いのも數ヵ所見られる。それは敍述內容のより具體的な異本の方を『源平盛衰記』が選んだ結果であると同時に自分なりの構成法にもなっている。

“Genpeizyosuiki” has been underestimated by reason of the author’s pedantic interest, exposure of gossips, the mass of illustrated articles, the increase in sentences, unfocused composition, and the criticism based on past events. In contrast, it has been positively affected by the unification of the style of writing and the critical attitude. From the analysis of the presentation and composition of “the combat on the bridge” in “Genpeizyosuiki,” the following findings were confirmed. Prior to the combat, the description of the clothes and weapons is too detailed and exaggerated. The personal aspect of the warrior is also too characterized. Moreover, the partial description expresses the trial for raising the validity of its own work. Whether it is true or not, the storyteller tries to provide more informations about the detailed facts to the readers. During the tale of the combat, the behavior of Myoshun and the surrounding people and the situation are too detailed and exaggerated. Furthermore, the storyteller attempts to validate the exaggerated behavior of Myoshun, and justify his own contradictory narrations. The description of the behavior of Tadatsuna contains unnecessary and overlapping comments, and so fails to give life to authenticity to the scene. However, it does emphasize the kindness and humanity of Tadatsuna. Additionaly, the storyteller attempts to continue the narration logically according to the change of circumstances. In generally, the composition of “the combat on the bridge” in “Genpeizyosuiki” is similar to Engyobon of “Heikemonogatari.” Meanwhile, in some particular parts, the contents of “the combat on the bridge” is similar to Kakuichibon of “Heikemonogatari.” This implies that “Genpeizyosuiki” specifically choose the text to contain more detailed descriptions, and it demonstrates the fact that “Genpeizyosuiki” was the source of rules on rules on how to create a composition.
