Siga Naoya found stability of mind out of anxiety and restlessness while meeting ancient art and made an oriental painting book, 『Jwaubo』. Ultimately, 『Jwaubo』 took a role to solve Siga's anxiety and restlessness and cure the scar in heart, and in his work 『Modakbul』 Siga expressed his opinion about this cure.
Observational viewpoint and vertical, horizontal structural change expressed in 『Modakbul』 can be said to be a pictorial technique. Pictorial visualization made the heroine party the characters in ink painting, which acted as the technique that induced retirement ideas which frequently appeared in literary paintings(文人畵). Retirement ideas was substituted with the house and boat, which were metaphors of resting place in heart, which lead the heroine group to ‘enjoyment(氣樂)’. It emphasizes that the main character is a part of the nature, while the space, shack in the mountain and the boat on the river, harmonized with the nature.
This way, Siga wanted to comment the harmony between the self and the nature through ink painting, also, eventually he intended to say that he found resting place in heart by oriental idea which emphasizes the rules of the nature such as the unity with the nature and the flowing water, who suffered from anxiety and restless due to his inharmonious thinking.
