The Swiss Ball is most suitable and familiar to young children. It allows young children to sufficiently develop their fitness. This study is to investigate effects of the Swiss Ball exercise on young children's muscular endurance, balance, agility, power and flexibility, providing an exercise program suitable for young children's development level.
For the purpose, this researcher surveyed 14 young children aged 7 from K kindergarten located in Busan, who were classified into exercise and control groups each consisting of 7 members. The Swiss Ball exercise was applied to the former group over 12 weeks with 3 times a week for 30 to 40 minutes. As a result, it was found that the exercise had positive effects on the muscular endurance, balance and flexibility of exercise group.
Therefore, if kindergarten education employs the Swiss Ball exercise that can promote young children's interest and motives and improve their fitness, it will contribute to young children's balanced growth and development.
