The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of plateau and slump experiences on dance performance and adaptation to university life of students majoring in dance. Using a purposive sampling method, 410 male and female dances selected from randomly selected 8 universities located in Seoul, Gyeounggi-do, Chungcheongnam-do, and Gangwon-do. Collected data were analyzed to test the hypotheses with statistical methods such as correlation analysis, chi-square analysis, multiple regression analysis, one-way ANOVA. An overall process of surveys and evaluations leads to the following conclusions: First, 88.9% of dancers experienced plateau and 87.2% experienced slump. There were no significant differences of plateau experiences among students majoring in Korean dance, ballet and modem dance. But there were significant differences of slump experiences among them Also, periods of dance participation had significant influences on both plateau and slump experiences of dancers. Second, dancers who experienced plateau did not adapt more successfully to university life rather than darns who did not experience. Especially, psychological plateau experiences had significant influences on performance and adaptation to university life of dancers. Third, dances who experienced slump did not adapt more successfully to university life rather than dances who did not experience. Especially, environmental slump experiences had significant influences on adaptation to university life of dancers.
